DIRECTRX PHARMACY AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS CERTIFICATION FROM WOMEN’S BUSINESS ENTERPRISE NATIONAL COUNCIL
TROY, MICH., October, 2015 – DirectRx, a family-owned, independent pharmacy based in Troy, Mich., today announced it has been awarded certification from the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). The announcement was made by Amanda Berishaj, PharmD, of DirectRx.
WBENC’s national standard of certification is a rigorous process that includes an in-depth review of the business and its legal and financial documents, as well as an in-depth site inspection. The certification process confirms that the business is at least 51 percent owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women. DirectRx received national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Great Lakes Women’s Business Council, a regional certifying partner of the WBENC.
DirectRx is led by founder and CEO Santa Zawaideh, R.Ph., who has been in private, independent practice since 1980. She is the proud recipient of the Michigan Pharmacist Association’s Governor’s Award and former two-term president of the Oakland County Pharmacy Association. Vice President of Clinical Services Amanda Berishaj, Pharm. D., daughter of Zawaideh, oversees the daily operations of DirectRx, as well as the clinical operations of patients with chronic disease states.
“We are proud to receive this prestigious certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise,” said Amanda Berishaj, Pharm. D. of DirectRx. “We look forward to providing pharmaceutical solutions to clients who value supplier diversity and seek the proven expertise that more than three decades of experience can offer.”
According to WBENC, “We foster diversity in the world of commerce. Diversity promotes innovation, opens new channels of revenue and creates partnerships which provide opportunities that fuel the economy.”
WBENC’s world-class certification is accepted by more than 1,000 corporations representing America’s most prestigious brands, in addition to many states, cities and other entities. WBENC is also an approved Third Party Certifier for the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contracting Program.
DirectRx is also accredited by the ACHC, URAC and NABP, making DirectRx one of the few independent pharmacies to have achieved all three prestigious accreditations.
WBENC is the nation’s largest third party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the United States. WBENC is a resource for nearly 700 U.S. companies and government agencies that rely on WBENC’s certification as an integral part of their supplier diversity programs.
